Barcamp Ireland - SouthEast is taking place in Waterford on January 20th, 2007. I’m giving a talk entitled “Idiots guide to Ruby on Rails, Django, Turbogears and other assorted newfangled frameworks”. For more details see the wiki and the blog. If your are attending and would like me to cover anything in particular let me know.
Abstract: Recently a number of full-stack MVC web development frameworks have received a lot of attention in the web development community. Frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Django and Turbogears are being used in small agile development teams to quickly produce complex web applications. Claims of increased productivity, code beauty and developer happiness abound. This talk will give an overview of the technology and design principles behind these frameworks and discuss the advantages of using them. This talk aims to be informative to both technical and non-technical people who have heard the hype and are wondering what it’s about and whether it’s justified.
